There are many customers facing issues in deleting a chart of account that was created by mistake. The error you get when trying to delete it from the chart of account form is something like "A financial dimension value is based on 10000 record and has been used on a transaction. You cannot delete the 10000 record."
This is because in AX2012 when you create a chart of account and associate main accounts to it, in the AOT dimension combinations are created because the main account by AX is considered a dimension. The dimension combinations in turn are considered by AX as a transaction.

- Manually change the bad chart of accounts account name have an X in from (so they can easily be identified and filtered from good chart of accounts
- Delete the X account entries from DimensionAttributeLevelValue table
- Delete the Bad COA from LedgerChartOfAccounts table
- Test each transaction stream thoroughly.
